  19. ■ Decide what kind of emergency service is required
  20. ■ Dial the emergency number
  21. ■ Once the operator answers, do not hang up until instructed to do so
  22. ■ Briefly state the nature of the emergency
  23. ■ Give the number of the telephone you are using (in case you get cut off)
  24. ■ Give the location (address, nearby roads, junctions and landmarks)
  25. ■ Explain any impediments to access (e.g. power lines down, roads blocked)
  26. ■ Give the number of people requiring assistance
  27. ■ Give the sex and approximate age of the people requiring assistance
  28. ■ Summarize any injuries or medical problems, as best you can
  29. ■ Wait for the operator to give you further instructions
